Isao “Joe” Nakagawa, 93, of Hilo died Sept. 21 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was a floral farmer, groundskeeper for University of Hawaii at Hilo, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and a U.S. Army veteran during World War II. Private services. Survived by daughter, Joy (Renald) Fukuoka of Wailuku, Maui; son, Neal (Jen) Nakagawa of Hilo; brother, Yoshimasa (Akiyo) Nakagawa of Hilo; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Elsie Frances Meyer Stevens, 100, of Waipunalei died Sept. 20 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Laupahoehoe, she was a homemaker and member of Saint Anthony Catholic Church and Laupahoehoe Senior Citizens. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9, at Saint Anthony Catholic Church in Laupahoehoe. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial to follow in church cemetery. Casual attire.
